If you are new to my Substack, welcome! I share my favorite resources for creating memorable learning experiences, stories from my classroom, and reflections about being a teacher today. Sometimes I reflect on my pedagogy, other times I reflect on a moment in the classroom. My classroom isn’t perfect, and I work really hard to make it better, sharing what I’ve learned with you all. No matter what I write about, expect to receive lots of resources that I believe will help you be the best teacher you can.
If you are not currently teaching in the classroom, I hope you find something of value in my weekly posts. If you are looking for a good book recommendation, I’ve got you! Maybe you are looking for something to watch on YouTube that won’t rot your brain?
No matter your background, you are invited to my next LIVE Ask Me Anything Q&A.
Ask me anything!
Recently, I have had so much fun answering your questions LIVE at the end of each month. I want to keep it going! On Friday, March 28, I will host another LIVE Q&A. We will begin at 3:30 PM (MST). The livestream should last about 30-40 minutes.
All are welcome!
No matter your connection to education (or not), all are welcome. I love connecting with all who have a vested interest in education and making teaching and learning better for everyone. So, whether you are a teacher, principal, parent, or just curious, feel free to join us! I usually broadcast the last Friday of each month.
What is an Ask me Anything Q&A like?
I’ve recorded a couple AMA’s. If you want to check them out, I’ve added them here.
Ask Me Anything
I had a lot of fun this afternoon chatting about slowing down at school and staying motivated during stressful times throughout the school year.
What should I ask?
I’m open to any education-related questions! Feel free to ask me about public education, K-5 teaching and learning, pedagogy, classroom management, design thinking, culturally-responsive teaching, the life of being a male, elementary-school teacher, designing engaging learning experiences, equity and social justice in my classroom, learning experiments, or anything you’ve ever wanted to ask a teacher.
How can I submit questions?

Next week, I will send out an all-call for questions in my subscriber’s chat. If you don’t know what you want to ask yet, no worries! Maybe you want to follow up to a question someone else asks? You can always ask me a question during the live broadcast itself.
You can also ask your questions directly in this post by leaving a comment below.
What happens if I can’t make it?
No worries! Once the livestream has finished, I will to share it in Notes so that you can watch it at a later time. This has been a lot of fun and I’m excited to keep it going!
In the meantime, if you are a new reader, feel free to browse through some of my archives or read about why I continue to teach after 20+ years in the classroom.
I’m looking forward to connecting!

Since there will always be more students who need individual attention than a single teacher can provide. Why not train students to be in-class tutors to fill this gap. Students love to help anyways (feel like the boss), it reinforces their understanding, they learn to be patient and nonjudgmental, and learning from peers creates community. It would require intentional training of students, but it seems worth the investment.
