Teaching journey is right. You model here for us the ways in which you are not afraid to shift and change to meet the purpose of the work. I have seen teachers get stuck in the format of a tool like a Dialectic Notebook, and lose the joy and the purpose. Seems like you are on a good path to keep this conversation I mind, even if the format varies. I can’t wait to hear how the year goes and the conversations you will have!

I appreciate you noticing my intentionality with trying to be a better teacher by shifting when my students need me to shift. Here’s to putting the joy (and humanity) back into teaching and learning!

Adrian this such a good article. My middle daughter had a teacher who taught her how to annotate and "have a conversation" with the author. She didn't enjoy it at the time, but it has helped her (definitely in college) but also in so many deeper ways in her life. Thank you for this.

You are assuredly living g out your verse, and that barbaric yawp? Yours is reverberating throughout your classroom and on into the future with the work you are doing. Your reflections on your craft and the events of your classroom gives me life, and generates deep in me a desire to craft and new units and lessons though I am in my 3rd “post-teaching” school year. Well done, Nuwanda, Mr. Learning would be proud.
